Margaret of New Orleans, From Carrigallen to America

his beautiful Children's book was written by and Illustrated by Jon Berkeley and Irish Author for the Margaret of New Orleans Community Organisation

This book is based on the life and times of a wonderful woman whom came from Tully Carrigallen Co Leitrim Ireland and when she was just five years old went to America with her parents in 1818. who wanted a better life for their family.

Though illness and death of her family Margaret was soon alone in the world and had to find her own feet, survive she did and done everything in her power over the years to improve other peoples lives as she leaned to run orphanage's as a business , Open and run a bakery and create a thriving business.

She died of an unknown illness and was given a state funeral of which many statesmen attended and showed there sympathies to such a wonderful woman. There is now a statue in New Orleans to commigrate this wonderful woman's life and good works
