A little about " Margaret's Corner Community Centre"

The Margaret of New Orleans Community Association is a dedicated voluntary organization based in Carrigallen, County Leitrim. As a long-standing group, we have worked to reconnect the narrative of Margaret of New Orleans with the residents of Carrigallen and its surrounding areas, hosting various events at the cottage over the years, including heritage days and open days on Sundays in July and August.
In 2024, We proudly became the owners of "Margaret’s Corner Community Centre" in Carrigallen. This initiative arose after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, which led to a significant influx of evacuees in our town, highlighting the need for communal spaces for gatherings and activities. One of our members discovered a grant aimed at communities hosting large numbers of evacuees, prompting us to apply for funding to purchase a vacant property in Carrigallen and it was transformed it into a community hub.
Since then, we have diligently revitalized the building, giving it a fresh coat of paint and opening it as a space for all sorts of community activities already it is bustling with life. With Various groups utilizing the center for a wide range of events and classes, including the MSLETB conducting English Speaking of Other Language's (ESOL) classes, Local book club, Pilates + yoga classes , Holistic therapy Sessions, Coffee mornings with all sorts of craft sessions supported by Leitrim Development Company, Birthday parties, Family gatherings and game nights to name just a few events.
We welcome all individuals and or groups to make use this fantastic Community facilities. This center has truly enhanced the Carrigallen community, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Margaret of New Orleans Community Association and our many many volunteers.
